The following letter was distributed to Two Rivers families on February 2, 2011
Changes to School Leadership coming in fall 2011The Board of Directors has some exciting news to report regarding Two River's director position but the first part is bitter-sweet. June Gilch officially gave notice at the January board meeting that she will not be renewing her contract for the 2011-12 school year. June came to Two Rivers after a rather turbulent period and has done an extraordinary job of helping the school consolidate its curriculum, make year-to-year progress in student achievement, and earning status as a "School of Distinction." Thanks to Ms. Gilch's skills as an educator and administrator, we are clearly on a much firmer foundation than when she first arrived. The exciting news is the Board has determined that we have a highly qualified and talented leader within our community who is more than ready to move into this position. In the time since Jessica Gilway joined the Two Rivers community in January of 2010, she has impressed us all with her intelligence, dedication, natural leadership abilities, and commitment to Two Rivers' mission. Both here and in her earlier teaching and administrative positions, she has demonstrated not only a profound understanding of what makes a great school, but also the focus, pragmatism, and interpersonal skills necessary to mobilize a team and translate vision into results. Following a review of Ms. Gilway's qualifications and interviews with the board, the board asked Ms. Gilway if she is interested in becoming Two Rivers' next director and she has indicated that she is. Consequently, pending finalization of her contract, Ms. Gilway will be taking up the director position with the beginning of the 2011-12 school year. In order for you to fully understand our excitement about Ms. Gilway, we invite you to review her resumé which we've posted on the school web site at http://trcsboone.org/gilway.pdf. Also, we will be scheduling special events in the near future to give parents a chance to meet Ms. Gilway, ask her questions, and share your thoughts about how Two Rivers can continue to fulfill it's vision and potential. The board is extremely excited about about the next phase of Two Rivers growth and the contribution Ms. Gilway will make to that in her new role. Building upon the formative stuggles and ongoing commitment of all the parents and staff, as well as upon the notable advances in curriculum and staff development provided by Ms. Gilch, the board believes Ms. Gilway is the ideal director to lead Two Rivers as we continue to distinguish ourselves as the most exciting, relevant, and rigorous K-8 educational institution in the high country. Sincerely,Lynnwood Brown Board Chair |
